1959(昭和34)年12月31日、28歳の市川雷蔵がホノルル国際劇場の正月公演のためにやって来た。美男スターとしての人気と演技力がともに認められていた。
　Raizo Ichikawa at the age of 28, came to Honolulu on December 31, 1959 for appearance on the stage of The New Year Show at the International Theater. He had by then gained a high recognition as one of the best and most handsome movie stars.
　『新平家物語』(溝口健二監督)、『炎上』(市川監督)などで不動の地位を築きつつあった雷蔵を歓迎する地元の娘たち。
