Reizo is the second son of Hatamoto Yanagisawa, but, he does not want to be a samurai and he leaves the house to be a yakuza. Now, he lives in the house of Nanagoro of Furukawa. The daughter Shizu of Nanagoro loves him secretly, because she has a fiance called Minosuke. He considers the feelings of Minosuke and leaves the house of Nanagoro to takes a long trip.
Three years later, Minosuke is killed by Jinzo, and Nanagoro is sick and unable to be moved. Reizo meets Shizu and knows the truth and drives off Jinzo. However, he has to return to home because of his elder brother's death. And all the trouble of his family makes separate from Shizu. He returns to Edo.
He sets off to Nikko-Bugyo and works for one year. Nanagoro is killed by Jinzo during the one year, and Shizu also becomes a singer. He knows all and helps make Shizu happy.
